This summer the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) sees the return of its national ‘Try Sailing” campaign which will see some 30 venues across the UK host ‘Try Sailing’ events offering free or low cost sailing and windsurfing taster sessions from July – September 2019.

Supported by the RYA, the nationwide events provide the chance for people to discover the feeling of being on the water, whilst sampling life at a local club or centre. No experience is necessary, there will be opportunities for all abilities to 'have a go'!

With activities planned throughout the summer months and with volunteers and qualified instructors on-hand, the open days provide a safe and fun introduction, or return to sailing and windsurfing.

Datchet Water Sailing Club (DWSC) is running Try Sailing events during July and August for just £5 per session. For dates, times, and to book visit Try Sailing at Datchet

DWSC is an RYA recognised Training Centre, RYA OnBoard Centre and RYA Champion Club. This means it conforms to the highest standards of quality and safety, and awards certificates that are recognised and respected the world over. The club will provide all of the equipment and information you need and give you a superb introduction to sailing.

Stuart Philby, Training Manager from the club says: “No matter if you are 8 or 80 you can get afloat with a qualified instructor and experience all that sailing has to offer.”

Steve Mitchell, RYA regional development officer for the London and the South East, adds: "The Try Sailing sessions provide the perfect opportunity to experience dinghy sailing for the first time or for people thinking about returning to the sport. The adventure begins here so whether you are an individual, a family or a couple the venue will have an expert team on hand to take you on the water to help you have a fantastic session, and will do all they can to ease you into the sport.”
