It's got to be said, we're blooming excited about this year's National Watersports Festival.
What started as a windsurfing festival has grown massively in recent times, and this year the Rutland Water event also includes an homage to all things dinghy sailing. Not only is it a chance for dedicated windlovers to celebrate their passion for all things water-based, but it's also a chance for complete newcomers to enter a brand new world of thrills and plenty of spills ahead of the summer!
So what's new for you?
Try Foiling for FREE
Tasters in dinghy and windsurfing foiling are available to book - this is an awesome opportunity to take flight and experience the thrill of foiling for yourselves!
To get the most enjoyment from these fantastic sessions, sailors must feel comfortable sailing a single-hander in a Force 3-4 and windsurfers should be at a level where they are planing in their harness and footstraps. The dinghy foiling tasters will take place in an RS Aero, adapted with foils by Glide Free Design.
The foiling sessions will run from 1pm - 5pm on Friday and 9.30am - 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Spaces are limited and allocated to visitors on a first-come first-served basis so arrive early to avoid disappointment.
To take part, sign up to the dinghy and windsurfing foiling taster sessions at the RYA event trailer on the day or register your interest here now - Dinghy sailing and windsurfing foiling taster sessions at the NWF.
Take a demo
Dinghies are a new addition to the 12th National Watersports Festival and this is an awesome chance to try out a range of new boats from some of the leading dinghy boat builders in the country.
RS Sailing, Laser Performance, Fusion Sailboats and Hartley Boats will all have models to demo and find out more about while Rooster Clothing will also be exhibiting its latest lines.
If you missed the RYA Dinghy Show in March, or if you want to know about something you saw there, get along to Rutland to get the lowdown!
Take along a friend to 'have a go'
The RYA Midlands team will be out in force to get as many 'first-timers' on the water as possible. Free taster sessions are available in both dinghy and windsurfing so why not take a friend and introduce them to what you love about the water.
The family friendly sailing and windsurfing tasters are open to anyone over the age of eight and no experience is necessary. Just come along on the day and sign up at the registration desk (first come first serve) or register your interest here - Free Dinghy and Windsurfing Taster Sessions
NWF celebrates ‘everything watersports’ with stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and diving all on offer along with sailing and windsurfing. There’s also racing, demos, live music, local food plus camping available on site.
