Discover everything that being on the water has to offer

If you’re 8-18 years old and looking to try out something new this summer, Get OnBoard!

Sailing and windsurfing offer a fantastic way to learn a new activity, have fun, make new friends and learn exciting and valuable skills that will help you both now and in the future. OnBoard is run through your local sailing or windsurfing club or centre and is open to all – you don’t have to have sailed or windsurfed before.

All clubs that run the programme are recognised RYA Training Centres, so you know that you will receive the highest standards of instruction in a safe, secured and relaxed environment.

Learning much more than just a new activity

As you’d expect, you’ll learn everything there is to know about being in a boat or on a board. In most cases you will be on the water from day one as part of a group with an instructor close at hand.  You’ll receive detailed and expert instruction, but OnBoard is mainly about being on the water in a relaxed and fun environment – so you can really enjoy and make the most of your time on the water.

Sailing and windsurfing can also provide you with an important range of life skills.

Many of those taking part find that OnBoard helps to boost their confidence, increases independence and teaches important communication and leadership skills while encouraging both teamwork and creativity.

Being on the water can benefit academic learning too, with common links to the school curriculum in subjects including geography, science, engineering and maths as well as in sport and physical education. Check out our case studies for more details.
