    RYA Sailability Multiclass Regatta 2019

Friday 05 - Sunday 07 July 2019 at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.

     Activities on offer

Enjoy three days of activities on the protected waters of Portland Harbour. It’s a level playing field out there, with something for everyone.

Click on the titles below for a more detailed description of the activity.

    • Team Racing - a series of action-packed short races on the Friday afternoon.  Each boat will be randomly paired with another for each race, with four boats racing at a time, in teams of two.  A friendly and fun way to develop your boat handling and rules knowledge!
    • Keelboat League - short races in a league format - enter your team, turn up and race in Elliot 6m keelboats provided by the organisers (available for volunteers on Friday afternoon, and teams of competitors on Saturday and Sunday).
    • Pursuit Race - a fun, social race for all boats and classes - pit yourself against everyone else and see who emerges the champion of champions!
    • Fleet Racing - races over a set course that test your boat handling, strategy and tactics.
    • Sip and Puff Sailing - if you can't sail a conventional boat because of the physical demands, but you have good breath control, you can still sail using a straw (sip and puff) that controls the steering.  The Miss Isle Sailing School will be providing 6 people with the chance to give it a go over the weekend.
    • Try Racing - Go Racing - an introduction to sailing and racing for people with learning disabilities. A chance to take your first competitive steps on the water, with plenty of support and guidance on offer from staff and volunteers at the Andrew Simpson Watersports Centre.

There will also be opportunities for anyone not involved in the racing to get out on the water.  We are delighted to be able to offer Stand Up Paddle boarding and Windsurfing taster sessions throughout the weekend in partnership with the OTC. A limited number of places are available in each session – first come first served.

    Costs

The Sailability programme is funded by the National Lottery via Sport England and by the RYA. Every effort has been made to keep costs low, and flexible.
