The Firefly is a 12ft dinghy with a Bermudan rig carrying a mainsail and headsail only. The Firefly has become very popular in both team racing and match racing and is also popular in fleet racing. The Firefly was adopted by the RYA as a National Class in 1962. The Firefly was designed as a low cost one design racing boat over 60 years ago. To ensure that it is still true to its designer the National Firefly Association is always working to ensure that it is still a one design class.
