The SKUD 18 Paralympic Class - Double-handed keelboat - Mixed

The SKUD18 made its first Paralympic appearance at Beijing 2008. Sailed by two disabled crew, with at least one female on board, the SKUD18 is designed with the 49er skiff in mind and has three sails. It is the only Paralympic class with a spinnaker.

For Paralympic competition the SKUD18 sails with two sailors seated on the centreline. The helm must have classification points 1 or 2 (most severely disabled) with the crew classified 1-7. Because the level of disability, helms typically sit on a canting seat while the crew has to remain strapped in at all times.
