Sport Wales

Be Active Wales Fund It’s one of the most challenging times ever for sport in Wales. Sport Wales are committed to supporting Welsh sport and physical activity. They want to Protect and Prepare what they see as the most valuable assets in our communities – the clubs and community organisations or groups that help people be active and take part in sport. The Be Active Wales Fund will invest £4million in community and grassroots sport to help restart activity.

*NEW* The Sport Freelancer Fund is designed to help freelancers in the field of sport and physical activity recuperate losses which they have experienced as a result of the pandemic. The fund is for freelancers whose work directly delivers activity to participants (e.g. personal trainers, instructor/practitioners and paid coaches) who have lost at least £2,500 of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Freelancers who meet eligibility criteria will receive £2,500 to recuperate their losses. Applicants will need to provide evidence to prove their eligibility.

Local Authorities

*NEW* Local authorities can grant hardship relief to businesses if they believe that it is in the interests of the local community to do so. For more information on hardship relief contact your local authority.

Business Wales

Business Wales have specific advice for Businesses in Wales with regard to furloughing, grants and loans available to support our clubs and centres at this time.

Third-Sector Support

WCVA (Wales Council for Voluntary Action) have a newly launched scheme that is available for clubs and voluntary organisations to access; ·                 

  • Voluntary Services Recovery Fund- The Voluntary Services Recovery Fund is now open. The Welsh Government fund, administered by WCVA, will focus on the recovery phase of the pandemic, aiming to ensure a fair and just recovery for people in Wales. Find out more and how to apply here
  • *NEW* Third Sector Resilience fund-  Phase 2 To help voluntary organisations stay in business, working with Welsh Government WCVA introduced the Third sector resilience fund for Wales to provide cash flow support to help organisations through the current crisis. Find out more here
