Return to Boating

We have set up a separate ‘return to boating’ page which can be found here.

It contains;

  • Information about the what activity is currently supported under Government Guidelines

Details of the supporting Club Development Forums can be found as part of the #Hwyliooadre #Sailfromhome  programme below.

There is also additional information & guidance from the RYA to aid your planning for a return to boating, training activity, racing etc., however please remember that the government guidelines are devolved across the UK and so some elements don’t apply here in Wales yet.

RYA Covid-19 Access to Support Survey

We are keen to measure the impact of Covid 19 on the Sport. We want to understand better what support clubs, organisations and training centres have accessed and what support they need moving forwards. We are asking all affiliated clubs and organisations to complete this short survey - it should take around 5 minutes to complete and we thank you for doing so.

Sport Wales

Sport Wales have announced that they will only be processing grant applications for the Emergency Relief Fund (ERF). This means clubs and organisations will no longer be able to apply for any other new grants, including Community Chest and Development Grants. This is a temporary measure and in recognition that it is very unlikely that any new sports development activity will be able to be progressed in the current climate.  The Emergency Relief fund is scheduled to remain available until 30 June. We would like to stress the importance of this fund to clubs, as each eligible applicant can apply for up to £5,000. More information and application form

Local Authorities

We are aware of a number of clubs that have received the £10,000 grant that has been made available to businesses eligible for Small Business Rates Relief with a rateable value of £12,000 or less. However there does seem to be some inconsistency across Wales, and therefore sadly we are also aware of a number of clubs that have been found to be ineligible.  With that in mind, please let us know how you have got on by either getting in contact with your local Regional Club Development Officer or by filling out the short survey- mentioned above.

Specific information about the SBRR Grant can be found here

Business Wales

Business Wales have specific advice for Businesses in Wales with regard to furloughing, grants and loans available to support our clubs and centres at this time.

Third-Sector Support

WCVA (Wales Council for Voluntary Action) have 2 schemes that are available for clubs and voluntary organisations to access; ·

  • Third sector resilience fund for Wales - Funding to provide cash flow support for voluntary organisations in Wales during the current Covid-19 crisis ·
  • Voluntary Services Emergency Fund- A new grant scheme to enable voluntary organisations providing vital support during the Coronavirus crisis to continue and expand their work
