Develop Your Racing

This year, RYA Scotland are delighted to role out year 2 of our race training initiative to promote and improve racing within clubs and centres across Scotland.

So, why are we looking to work in partnership with clubs and centres to offer support around Racing?

We are continuously told by members that Racing is an essential element of club/ centre programmes. We know that effective race training, enthusiastic instructors & coaches, a variety of opportunities to race locally and vibrant training and activity are key to encouraging more boats onto the start line. RYA Scotland are committed and excited to be working to support clubs/centres to promote and deliver quality, local, training and racing throughout the country.

This initiative, in its second year will incorperate a series of on and off the water activities helping Coaches, Instructors, Training Co-ordinators and Volunteers to learn more about race training enabling coaches to pick up new ideas to try at their own club/centre. The sessions will aim to:

  • Increase the number of coaches delivering effective race training
  • Empower Clubs to be autonomous at delivering race training and racing
  • Promote positive inter-club relationships

How will the years initative run?

Session 1:

This will be a day session incorperating on and off the water activity where you will get to explore different ways of coacing as well as how to build, deliver and wrap up an effective race training session.
