The Royal Northumberland Yacht Club in the North East has strived to integrate into the community, utilising its 144 year-old historic floating timber lightship, HY Tyne, for education and entertainment. Hosting educational programs, tours, and cultural events, it has engaged over 1,815 local schoolchildren and published educational resources. HY Tyne is used as an intimate and characterful music venue for club members and the public. Monthly gigs are sell-outs for international stars as well as talented local musicians. The club works hard to connect with other parts of the maritime community.
