RYA South West Regional Chair

 

We are recruiting for the next volunteer Chair of the RYA South West Regional Team at an important and exciting time for the region’s development. 

The full range of sailing and boating activities takes place in the region, from ocean and offshore yacht racing and cruising, including motorboat cruising, club racing and cruising, both tidal and on inland reservoirs and lakes, radio-controlled model boat racing, windsurfing, dinghy racing and cruising, and cruising on inland waterways.

The purpose of the Regional Team is to support the overall RYA Strategy - Together on Water - in the South-West region.

More specifically the purpose of the Regional Team is:

  • To support and enable engagement with and between stakeholders in the region.
  • To be a point of contact for RYA affiliates and members within the region.
  • To ensure the RYA is connected to and understands the needs of the region.
  • To create and deliver a regional implementation plan.
  • To support the region through the delivery of specific projects.

The Chair’s role is to:

  • Lead and guide the team’s activities.
  • Chair regular meetings of the Regional Team
  • Represent the region on the English Regional Forum*, as well as on other bodies as required to support the role.

  • We plan to hold individual meetings with shortlisted applicants to discuss the role in week commencing 22 April 2024 – these would be in person or online to suit availability.
  • We intend to appoint the new Chair to the role in November 2024.

*The English Regional Forum enables interaction between the RYA regions, the RYA Chair, Chief Executive and senior development and performance staff.
