Our impact

We are the national governing body for dinghy, yacht and motor cruising, all forms of sail racing, RIBs and sportsboats, windsurfing and personal watercraft and a leading representative for inland waterways cruising

Teaching Yachting

RYA Training is recognised as a world-leading standard with 25,000 RYA instructors in 58 countries. Used by the Police, Royal Navy and the RNLI and covering everything from inland waterways to Yachtmaster Ocean, over 270,000 people every year achieve an RYA qualification.

Multi Class Racing

The RYA provides a robust, articulate and intelligent voice to represent the rights & freedoms of recreational boaters. We believe that knowledge, skills and experience rather than regulation are the foundations upon which personal safety and responsibility are built.

RYA Onboard may 2017

Since 2005 almost 1 million young people have been introduced to sailing by RYA OnBoard. And our Sailability groups run over 50,000 sessions a year for people with disabilities. Our friendly clubs have something for everyone – whatever your age, background or level of ability

Rio Olympics 2016

The British Sailing Team is the most successful Olympic sailing team of all time. British sailors have won 64 medals, including 31 golds, since the birth of the modern Olympics in 1896. Team GB tops the all-time Olympic sailing medal table – and we are determined to build on that success at Paris 2024 and beyond.
