Description:

The 4-day course will cover the role of a Senior Instructor, preparation and delivery of sessions, course and centre management, powerboat handling in a teaching environment and the RYA Sailing Schemes. You will be assessed on a continual basis including running water-based simulated group management sessions.

Candidates must first be an RYA Dinghy Instructor and must fulfil the following criteria prior to the course:

Minimum age of 18
Valid First Aid certificate
RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate
Dinghy Instructor certificate, with at least two years intermittent or one year's full time instructing experience since qualifying
Safety boat certificate
RYA Safe and Fun safeguarding certificate (within 12 months of the course) or a previous course that has been taken in the last three years.
Recommendation from the RYA Chief Instructor, or principal, RYA Regional Development Officer/Regional Trainer, or RYA appointed Trainer.
Completed Senior Instructor workbook
Sailing ability to at least RYA pre-entry standard
