Continued support for RYA's training conferences

The RYA is once again inviting instructors and recognised training centre principals to attend the RYA Training Conference supported by Gallagher (01-02 February 2020) and the RYA Raymarine Yachtmaster Scheme Instructor Conference (08-09 February 2020).

With some 2,400 recognised training centres and more than 25,000 instructors now delivering RYA training worldwide, the annual conferences provide an opportunity for the RYA to engage with its growing network.

Each conference will feature a programme tailored to each of the RYA’s training schemes, with informative workshops, industry experts and key updates. Delegate feedback has led to the selection of new and improved venues, greater capacity and invitations extended to a wider audience than ever before, as well as increased opportunities for personal development and networking.

Long-term sponsors, Raymarine, continue their support of the RYA Raymarine Yachtmaster Scheme Instructor Conference, while insurance brokers, Gallagher, will once again sponsor the RYA Training Conference, aimed at the smaller boat schemes.

RYA Director of Training and Qualifications, Richard Falk commented: “We strive to ensure there’s something at each conference for everyone across all the RYA training schemes, with workshops and presentations to deepen knowledge, present fresh perspectives and offer a broad view of the industry.

“The conferences are also an important opportunity for us to listen and gather feedback from the broader training network, which is vital as we develop the schemes and move forward. Our thanks go to long-term sponsors Raymarine and Gallagher for their outstanding support.”

2020 will see a much anticipated change in venue for the RYA Training Conference supported by Gallagher, which will be hosted at the Wyboston Lakes Resort in Bedfordshire from 01-02 February.

With a programme tailored for those working in the Dinghy, Windsurfing, Power, Personal Watercraft and Inland Waterways schemes, this year’s conference will feature opening remarks from Olympic sailor, Luke Patience, as well as sessions looking at electronic navigation, sustainability and ways to attract more sailors to clubs and centres.

The RYA Raymarine Yachtmaster Scheme Instructor Conference will return to the popular De Vere Wokefield Estate Conference Centre in Berkshire from 08-09 February 2020. Aimed at those within the Sail and Motor Cruising schemes, the conference will also be open to shorebased instructors for a second year.

Highlights include an inspiring talk from ocean sailor and RYA Yachtmaster™ Cruising Instructor Trainer and Examiner, Pip Hare, as she prepares for the world’s toughest single-handed yacht race, The Vendee Globe, as well as workshops on radar, heavy weather handling and how to transition from instructor to coach.

Alongside the two major conferences, the RYA continues to support its instructor base with regional instructor training days and opportunities for personal development. Key elements of the conferences are also delivered to overseas instructors with smaller satellite conferences, in key international locations throughout each year.

Bookings are now open and with limited spaces available for these sell out events, we advise you secure your place as soon as possible.
