Regional cruising conferences coming soon

05 Nov 19

The RYA East Region Cruising Conference is set to take place on Sunday, 24 November at the Royal Hospital School in Ipswich, set in 200 acres of stunning Suffolk countryside overlooking the River Stour.

A jam-packed schedule of speakers and interactive sessions (09:30 – 15:30) will cover a wide variety of topics ranging from autonomous vessels and aerodynamics to getting the most from instruments and electronics.

Brexit and boating

Keynote speaker Howard Pridding, RYA Director of External Affairs, will deliver the latest insight into hot topics affecting your boating, including Brexit. Hear first-hand about the RYA’s lobbying work to engage with government and supportive Parliamentarians to ensure that the needs and concerns of the recreational boating community have been taken into account during the Brexit negotiations.

Conference delegates will benefit from yacht cruising updates and current RYA work for cruising members with well informed and entertaining speakers and workshop discussions. The conference programme can be viewed here.

Tickets cost £10pp for RYA members and £20pp non-members (including refreshments and lunch), so cruising boaters from across the region are urged to save the date (24 November 2019) and keep an eye on www.rya.org.uk/go/east for more details.

London and South East

Looking further ahead, the RYA London & South East Cruising/Racing Conference is set to take place on Sunday, 12 January 2020 at the Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club in Eastbourne.

This bi-annual cruising/racing conference is aimed at the motor and sailing yacht fraternity within the RYA London and SE region and is for RYA personal members, and members of RYA affiliated clubs and organisations as well as members of stakeholder organisations in the region.

It aims to provide interesting and cutting edge talks and workshops to inspire sailors for the upcoming season, providing a forum for networking and discussion on topical issues. The event schedule can be viewed here.

The conference is free to attend with an optional £12 pre-bookable hot lunch payable at the latest on the day. Doors open from 09:15.

Lifejacket clinics will be offered by the RNLI throughout the day, so bring along your lifejackets for some free inspections by the RNLI who are there to help and advise! Some info stalls will also be showcasing on the day.
