Deputy Lord Leiutenant presents RYA Volunteer Awards to two dedicated members at Frampton on Severn SC

The Deputy Lord Leiutenant ofGloucestershire, Andy Hodson, presented RYA Volunteer Awards to two loyalmembers of Frampton on Severn Sailing Club (FOSSC) in a socially distancedoutdoor ceremony at the club on 16 December. Priscilla Jordan and David Coates areamong 44 volunteers celebrated across the UK this year for their exceptionaldedication to boating. 

Priscilla, who received a LifetimeCommitment award, joined Frampton on Severn Sailing Club with her family in1995. She soon took on the role of Membership Secretary, and later served asCommodore, focusing on developing the club’s sail training facilities. She wasalways at the club and if not sailing she was organising the galley as SocialSecretary. Priscilla and her late husband, John, who sadly passed away inJanuary 2020, were a formidable team. Their partnership, together with herexceptional planning, negotiation and organisational skills, has enabled theclub to offer facilities fit for the 2020s and beyond. 

David, who was givenan award for Outstanding Contribution, became FOSSC’s Commodore in 2017, andhas worked tirelessly to expand the scope of the club to include family sailing,Sailability and a Junior Club. His positive, supportive attitude has deliveredcommunity involvement and his inclusive approach has attracted younger membersto the committee. He has given excellent direction to the club as a whole,maintaining its all-inclusive family-focused ethos.

The outdoorceremony took place outside the sailing club and closely followed governmentguidelines.
