From May, venues across the country have been offering 'have a go' taster sessions for all, as part of the RYA's Discover Sailing programme. No previous experience is necessary for you and your family to get involved with sailing, windsurfing and watersports locally.

Carolyne Vines tells us about the Tamesis Club event, and Chris Wade provides the photos:

A beautiful day

The weather was beautiful, the sun shone, there was enough wind to create a bow wave, and the club was crowded with visitors and members alike. Lots of smiles and happy people.

Visitors responded to various different forms of marketing - online social media and RYA ads, ads in local online press, printed posters, cards, banners, and word of mouth.

What happened

65 plus people showed up on the day. Many went out for a sail, enjoyed the cakes (mostly made by members), juice, tea and drinks from the bar, and generally had a great time. The club was absolutely buzzing with people taking advantage of the beautiful riverside setting.

The Juniors were out sailing as part of their regular Saturday session which provided entertainment for those not on the water.

The Mayor attends

The Mayor of Richmond visited to cut the ribbon on two new to Tamesis race ready Toppers which had been sponsored by SporTed. We are intending to use these to compete at Topper events.
