Ruth joined the Welsh Yachting Association as Regional Development Coach in 2003. She went on to be the Regional Development Officer in North Wales before becoming National Development Officer in 2012 when the Welsh Yachting Association changed to become RYA Cymru Wales. In 2015 Ruth also became the Equity lead for RYA Cymru Wales.

Throughout her time Ruth launched several initiatives, including the North Wales Onboard Festival and Ffin a Ffoil, and has reached nearly every club and centre across the length and breadth of Wales. She has also been a tireless and longstanding champion of diversity and access in our sport. She led the work to secure the Intermediate level of the Equality Standard for RYA CW (a key achievement that led to RYA Cymru Wales achieving the Chwarae Teg Leading Employer Award). Ruth also set up the Welsh Sport Equality Alliance with other outdoor sports and began RYA involvement in Pride by leading RYA Cymru Wales at Pride in Cardiff in 2019.

We would like to thank Ruth for all of her time, energy and dedication across nearly two decades and to wish her well as she sets out on a new adventure.
