Ffin a Ffoil flys in Dale!

The second edition of ‘Ffin a Ffoil’ took place recently off the seafront in Dale, a small coastal village in Pembrokeshire with a fantastic tradition for windsurfing!

The first edition of Ffin a Ffoil was held in Llanfairfechan back in May, and this time it was twice the size Lots and lots of old and new faces meeting up to enjoy the activities, networking, making friends, and just hanging out in a chilled atmosphere – it felt like pretty much everyone from the south and west Wales winging and windsurfing scene was there!

And the wind blew!

The event started out a little big foggy on the Saturday morning, but the sun soon burnt the fog away leaving us with near perfect conditions with 15-20 knots wind and glorious sunshine! We had a jam-packed programme of activities for the day, which included free Yoga with Tideline, and over 100 try sessions and masterclasses, double the amount offered at Llanfairfechan. The Windfoil masterclass was delivered by the British Sailing Team’s Catrin Williams, which was a massive pull for the event, and if you’ve seen Catrin on the water, you’ll know why!

Other sessions were delivered by a fantastic instructional teams from Windswept, Cardigan Bay Watersports, Plas Menai National Outdoor Centre & more, and there were lots of product demonstrations by the trade supplier attendees, which included Alien Foiling Systems, Armstrong, Axis, GA Wings, Get on the Water, Hydro Foil Store, Indiana Foil, O’Shea, Ozone, PPC Foiling, Puravida Boardriders, SIC Maui UK, The SUP Hut, and Tabou – huge thanks must be given to the instructors and the trade support for making it an even better event!

Pizza and a party

At the end of day 1, everyone was treated to some fantastic pizzas from Coco’s Brasserie at Dale Yacht Club, as well as some live entertainment – a great night was had by all!

Sunshine and smiles

Sunday came and although the sun was shining there was much less wind, but enough to have some activities on the water!

It was an amazing weekend with Dale at its best, with numbers out on the bay reminiscent of the late 80s, early 90s – with loads people having a great time!

Both events at Llanfairfechan and Dale have been a huge success, so we look forward to more events in 2023 – watch this space!

And while you are waiting check out this fab short made by one of the instructors!
