Make the most of the Midlands fleets in 2020

Need extra boats for your OnBoard sessions? Want your rookie young racers to get some experience before they buy a boat? Could do with another training boat for your Open Day?

The Midlands has fleets of boats you can hire and use to help you achieve all of this and more. Basically, if you need more boats for anything this season, we can help.

There are seven fleets of dinghies available to hire by any RYA affiliated club and RYA Training Centres in the Midlands. These are:

  • 6 x Regatta-fleet ready Toppers - to give you an idea of standard, these were all used in the Regatta fleet at last year's BYS Midlands Regional Junior Championships.
  • 12 x Topper training boats (2 fleets) - great for OnBoard, 'have a go' or kids' holiday club sessions.
  • 12 x Oppie training boats (2 fleets) - same as the Toppers.
  • 2 x Laser Bahias - ideal family boat to get more people on the water at your Discover Sailing open days or try sailing sessions. Could also be used for beginner training courses.
  • 2 x Laser Vagos - an option for instructor training sessions. The RYA Midlands team will be using this boat across the region to support instructor development.

All the prices and information on how to book can be found here - Regional Fleets and Event Packs. The hire charges include VAT and all four sets of boats are on road trailers.

Ben Hodgson, RYA Midlands Regional Development Officer, said: "These fleets are maintained to support clubs and centres in achieving their aims to get and keep more people on the water. We never want lack of boats to be a reason people don't sail so please do make the most of the opportunities these boats offer."

Stand out in the crowds

If your club or centre is planning on having a stand at a local show or event this year, or perhaps you've got a slot booked to be in your town centre, why not hire our RYA event gazebo and simulator to attract attention?

The event pack, which includes trailer, is free for all high footfall events, and gives you something eye-catching to draw people in, something interactive and fun for them to have a go at, and somewhere to shelter you from the sun or (we are in England after all!) if the weather gets a bit iffy. Booking is as per the regional fleets.
