A programme of monthly forums has been launched by RYA North East to provide a regular point of contact to support clubs, training centres and OnBoard teams.
The drop-in sessions will provide an opportunity for people to join the regional team and guest speakers for an evening chat on the last Thursday each month.
Each evening will provide three 30-minute time slots to provide bespoke sessions for representatives of clubs, RYA Recognised Training Centres and OnBoard teams to hear about topics relevant to them, including a chance to ask questions and talk to other attendees.
The programme will launch on Thursday 26 January 2023 with a look at topics from the RYA North East Affiliated Clubs Conference, which took place just before Christmas, and a discussion about what attendees would like to see on the agenda for future forums:
Different people from a club/centre might choose to tap into one or more of the forum options each month, depending on the particular subjects lined up for that evening.
RYA North East Sailing Development Officer Paul Adams said: “We want to connect with clubs and centres and each session will be just half an hour, with a regular time so people get to know that every month there is a forum and a chance for them to just have a chat.
“The aim is to have an ‘agenda’ for each forum and then an open Q&A, and if there’s a guest speaker, you might want talk to them as well. We want the sessions to be fluid and flexible rather than too structured, so it’s an open conversation where we are there to respond to clubs and centres, who will be able to share ideas, discuss any challenges and seek out what they need.”
