RYA release new edition of best-selling tactics title

27 Jan 20

The RYA is delighted to announce the much anticipated, third edition of RYA Tactics is now available to purchase in both print (G40) and eBook (E-G40) formats.

Expertly written by world-renowned race strategist and Olympic Coach, Mark Rushall, the best-selling title is essential reading for those looking to win their next race on the water. Packed with cutting-edge advice for sailors of all abilities, whether you’re a club sailor or on the Olympic pathway, there’s something for everyone.

New material includes expert advice on analysing weather conditions, high-speed racing, and positioning as strategy. It also discusses strategy building and looks at all parts of the race in detail, recommending specific tactics for each stage.

Author, Mark Rushall commented: “There really is something for everyone. When I wrote the first book, my goal was that club sailors would find plenty of substance they’d be able to identify with, but that there’d also be enough original thinking to challenge my work mates and athletes at the highest level. That’s still the goal.

“Whether you use it as a reference to review you performance post-race, a way to address a known blind spot, or a stimulus to try something new - background reading is a great way to enhance your on-the-water development and learning.”

The book is packed with easy to follow diagrams, detailed illustrations and excellent photography, breaking down the race to tell you exactly what to think about, how, when and why to do it. The popular eBook is also enhanced with video clips and animations to support the written text.

So, whether you’re looking to understand wind shifts better, start fast, use a race compass, or get round the marks first, this book will get you there.

RYA Tactics costs £17.99 (RRP) and is available to buy on the RYA web shop or through the RYA Books App. RYA members can take advantage of a 15% discount on all RYA publications. Alternatively, download the eBook via Apple Books or Google Play Books.
