RYA North East launches 'I Love My Club' photography competition
A photography competition has been launched by RYA North East to showcase sailing clubs and centres across the region and their activities.
Club members, sailors and keen photographers are invited to send in pictures of their club, venue or best-loved location for getting afloat in the region.
The competition aims to celebrate the region’s clubs and raise awareness about what the sport has to offer heading into the new season, as clubs look to inspire their members and attract new ones following the challenging months of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Entries for the RYA North East ‘I Love My Club’ Photography Competition will be shared on @RYANorthEast social media channels and the competition will run for three months during February, March and April 2021.
Each month a winning entry will be chosen by the RYA North East Regional Team, with the prize of a fantastic Helly Hansen Scout Duffel kit bag for the winning photographer each month, and an opportunity for the club featured in the image to be in the spotlight, with the publication of an online profile on the RYA North East website hub and a press release to a share the news.
Sam Usher, RYA North East Regional Development Officer, said: “We are hoping the competition will not only be great fun but also support our clubs and centres by raising awareness about the fantastic facilities we have in the region and the opportunities to get afloat which they provide for their members and local communities.
“While the lockdown continues, we’re inviting clubs and their members to go back through their albums and archives for photographs from the last year, and then as and when clubs are able to reopen again, we are looking forward to entries capturing the new season as it starts.
“We have a small prize lined up a winning photographer each month of the competition but the key aim is to enable you to put your club or centre in limelight. You might like to submit a landscape view of your club house and its water, or action shots of the sailing or activities on shore. Whatever images you have which show your club at its best, we’d love to see them!”
Taking part is easy!
All you have to do is submit your favourite photos of your club, centre or venue in the RYA North East region by messaging @RYANorthEast on Facebook or by emailing Regional Communicator Paula Irish. Please include your name and contact details and the place where you took the photograph.
The closing date for entries is the 25th of each month of the competition, which will run from February to April 2021 inclusive. Entrants can submit more than one image and by submitting a photograph, entrants agree that it may be used for marketing and promotional purposes. Entrants should either have, or seek the consent of, any individuals visible in a photograph. Full terms and conditions can be found here.
