RYA Scotland Winter Championships 2024 - what to expect

With lots of us seeing our first taste of snow and frost recently... we've been busy planning for our upcoming RYA Scotland Winter Championships.

Previously, our Winter Champs have been run as an open event for Youth & Junior sailors across several recognised classes - however this year we're doing things a bit differently.

Taking on board feedback and observations from previous years, we've decided to make this December's event an invitational competition. 

This decision was made to better ensure a positive experience for participating sailors - taking into account age, stage, and experience level due to typically chilly and sometimes challenging Winter conditions. 

We will however continue to assess our Winter offering to maximise opportunity for all Pathway sailors in line with wider changes under the ongoing RYA Pathway review.

Invitations have been sent out to a number of sailors ahead of the event which will be held as a residential at Blairvadach Outdoor Centre at the beginning of next month. 

We do however recognise a larger pool of valued young talent with whom our Pathway team remain dedicated to working with around wider training and racing opportunities.
