Accounts Administrator - Purchase Ledger

 

The Royal Yachting Association, based in Hamble, near Southampton, is the National Governing Body for all forms of recreational, competitive and professional boating.  It represents dinghy and yacht racing, motor and sail cruising, RIBs and sportsboats, windsurfing, inland cruising and personal watercraft.


Job Role:   Accounts Administrator - Purchase Ledger


Salary: £23,000 per annum, pro rata


Part Time: 25 hours per week 


Location:   Hamble (hybrid working)


The Royal Yachting Association is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Administrator to support the finance team with day-to-day operations and administration.

Your responsibilities as an Accounts Senior Administrator will include, but are not limited to:

  • Approving and maintaining staff expense claims, ensuring compliance with RYA policy and accurate VAT reconciliation.
  • Providing support and training to employees on the expense system (e.g. password resets, onboarding guidance).
  • Processing and reconciling company credit card transactions each month.
  • Supporting the Senior Purchase Ledger Administrator by processing supplier invoices and ensuring timely approvals when they are not working.
  • Assisting with monthly and year-end financial tasks
  • Supporting month-end processes and internal reporting requirements.
  • Assisting with audit preparation and ongoing financial recordkeeping.
  • Supporting continuous improvements in financial systems and processes.
  • Liaising with other departments and occasional contact with external suppliers

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • GCSEs in Maths and English.
  • Proven experience in finance or accounts administration is desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with internal teams and external parties.
  • Helpful, proactive attitude and strong team orientation.
  • Integrity, honesty, and commitment to completing tasks accurately and efficiently.
