EACC Chair

Job Role: EACC Chair

Remuneration: Reasonable expenses

Role type: Voluntary / Part-Time

Could you help us navigate uncharted waters of public policy?

Policy and regulation have become increasingly unpredictable. The challenge of keeping ahead of change is great, and success is dependent upon the capacity to look long and wide.

The RYA is seeking a new Chair for its committee responsible for public policy. Whoever fills this important voluntary role must be able to bring out the best from the talented members of the committee.

We need someone who has:

  • Expertise in domestic and international strategy, media relations, policy development, regulation, lobbying, government consultation and governance
  • Experience of working within a complex, multi stakeholder environment and political context including an understanding of membership organisations and the voluntary sector
  • Sound understanding of sustainable business practice and strong commitment to promoting and embedding diversity and inclusion

We need someone who can:

  • Bring out the best in a high-calibre group of expert volunteers and staff
  • Encourage diversity within the committee
  • Help guide decisions on when and how to intervene in public policy decisions
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues and with external partners

The EACC is a Policy Committee of the RYA Board. The committee supports the purposes of the RYA by providing strategic oversight and key decision making in the context of the RYA’s domestic and international external relations and public policy positions and engagement.

The EACC is constituted of voluntary members with a broad range of expertise enabling it to provide critical leadership, support and challenge to the RYA in navigating the complexities arising from a changing and increasingly unpredictable external affairs and policy landscape.

The EACC meets up to four times annually. Members are also involved in projects, engagement and mentoring opportunities outside of formal Committee meetings.

Please see the accompanying documents for a full description and Terms of Reference.
