The Royal Yachting Association, based in Hamble, near Southampton, is the national governing body for all forms of recreational, competitive and professional boating.  It represents dinghy and yacht racing, motor and sail cruising, RIBs and sportsboats, windsurfing, inland cruising and personal watercraft. 


Job Role: Olympic Operations Coordinator


Salary: £26,000 - £27,000 per annum


Full Time: 35 hours per week


Location: Hamble (hybrid working)


We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Olympic Operations Coordinator to support the planning and delivery of the RYA’s Olympic Programme, including the British Sailing Team (BST) and British Sailing Squad (BSS).

Reporting to the Olympic Operations Manager, you’ll be part of a dynamic performance environment, providing world-class administrative and logistical support to ensure the smooth running of training and competition schedules for elite athletes and coaches.

Your responsibilities as an Olympic Operations Coordinator will include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating logistics for domestic and international training camps and competitions
  • Booking travel, accommodation, venues, and equipment transport
  • Maintaining up-to-date athlete and staff records
  • Preparing export/import documentation and budget tracking
  • Processing invoices and credit card transactions
  • Supporting events such as team camps and annual dinners
  • Communicating effectively with athletes, coaches, venues, and partners
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of operations systems and processes

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a busy, dynamic office environment
  • Experience with international travel and event logistics
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Excellent organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Experience in high performance sport or sports administration
  • Understanding of database and finance systems (e.g. SharePoint, Business Central)
