The RYA can help affiliated clubs and organisations and RYA Recognised Training Centres to access Criminal Records checks on volunteers or staff who will work with young people or adults at risk/protected adults.
If you are interested in using this service, please see the relevant guidance which can be downloaded from the links on the right.
For organisations in England and Wales, we are currently in the process of moving from a paper-based application system to an online system. Organisations that are already 'signed up' will receive information via e-mail. If you have your login for the online system, you can download the help notes from the links on the right to get started.
AccessNI in Northern Ireland already operates an online application process.
In Scotland, anyone whose role involves 'regulated work' should now be a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme, including those previously checked under the old Disclosure scheme. The Disclosure Scotland process is still paper based, but it is planned to move to an online system in the future. Legislation is currently going through the Scottish Parliament which will introduce a number of changes to the criminal records disclosure and PVG process.
