May 2021

Here’s the latest news from across Wales from our Development Team!

Back on the water!

It’s been a fantastic few weeks here in Wales, mainly because we’ve been allowed back on the water for the first time in a long time at many of our clubs, in fact, for the first time in over a year at Royal Anglesey Yacht Club who didn’t sail during 2020 at all!

Royal Anglesey Yacht Club, based in Beaumaris and a RYA Recognised training centre, usually raced every weekend during the Summer months but that just couldn’t happen last year for obvious reasons, so imagine their delight at getting back out there in the last few weeks!

Their 2021 Sailing season has now started, and the club will be open (following COVID guidelines) every Wednesday and Saturday after sailing as well as on Sundays from Noon. They will also be hosting social events, again Covid compliant, which is fantastic for the whole club.

Great prizes up for grabs in the RYA Joining Point Prize Box competition

Throughout May, June and July all clubs, training centres and marine organisations signed up to the RYA Joining Point programme will be in with a chance of winning some fantastic prizes for their organisation, in the RYA Joining Point Prize Box competition.

Each month the top Joining Point, who has recruited the newest RYA members, will receive a prize box full of amazing prizes.

If you’re not a registered Joining Point, signing up is simple, visit www.rya.org.uk/go/joiningpoint and once you’re registered you will be sent a unique Joining Point number to match new members to your club.

Llandegfedd Sailing Club launches their new website

Over the past couple of months, we’ve been supporting Llandegfedd Sailing Club as they worked towards developing their new website.

They’d recognised that their existing site could be improved and set about establishing a working group to move forward on the project to develop their new website, recognising the importance of marketing to attracting new members, making members aware of what’s going on, and simply promoting sailing as a sport.

They worked closely with our Regional Communicator and have recently launched their new site: https://www.llandegfedd.org.uk

This was a fantastic example of how we can support you all as clubs to develop your marketing knowledge and capacity, so please get in touch if you’d like to access that support.

 Affiliated Club Conference 2021

We are now starting to plan the Affiliated Clubs Conference and Club Development Sessions programme and we would really value your help with ideas for how we ensure these events remain useful and relevant to clubs.  This is your opportunity to feed in the ideas that you have always wanted to learn more about so that you can improve the offering your club gives to its members or potential members.

There is no such thing as a bad idea at this stage, together we will find the information and ideas that you are looking for.  Let us know what you think!
