A qualified RYA Level 2 Racing Coach is a good club racer with personal knowledge of club and/or regional racing and a broad basis of coaching skills. They will be able to deliver and award Start, Intermediate and Advanced Racing where appropriate, working at affiliated clubs or recognised training centres. A list of the pre-requisites can be found in the links to the right. along with a list of current scheduled courses.
If your club or centre is interested in hosting a Race Coach Level 2 course, please contact Robyn Phillips for more information and we can look at setting something up. Courses need a minimum of 4 candidates to run and the club will need a fleet of singlehanders, access to a RIB and a classroom.
If you are looking to join a Senior Instructor or Race Coach Level 2 Course, or any other coach/instructor qualification, RYA Scotland looks to provide extra support to you to ensure you are in the best possible position to ensure you pass the course. This support will come in many forms whether it is advice, workshops to increase your knowledge or teaching skills or simply to improve your sailing. Contact the Coach Education Development Manager for more information.
We hope to make CPD more accessible and cheaper for the volunteer coaches by visiting active clubs and running single day CPD programmes specifically targeted to the needs of the club. These clubs will be identified by them expressing an interest in hosting a day or by the RDOs who will advise on what the clubs needs are. These can also be organised by a group of clubs if they wish to host a day for all their local coaches or instructors.
