South Regional Training Day

A big thank you to everyone who attended our recent South Regional Training Day. It was great to see so many of us involved with the delivering activities across the region come together for an excellent day of shore-based and on-water sessions.

We had a fantastic range of sessions take place and everyone was thoroughly engaged, and I hope took away a lot of learnings for the upcoming season.

RYA Connected Forums

The volunteering and membership series of RYA Connected Forums have now all taken place. I hope everyone who came along to a session, which took place at various clubs in our region, found them insightful.

Regional Junior Championships – Now open!

Entries for the South and South West combined Regional Junior Championships are now open! This event is a fantastic opportunity for our young sailors to travel to Weymouth and take part in a fun day against sailors from other clubs. They really do come away with so much enthusiasm for sailing, which is a real joy to be involved with.

As usual, we will have the various fleets taking part so is a great day on the water for various ages and abilities. Find out more here.

Discover Sailing

To help increase membership, have you thought about running a Discover Sailing event? An Open Day can be a great way to help attract those people whose interest may peak in our sport this year, due of course to the Olympics taking place. Which always helps inspire people to become more active.

Training and courses

A WINDSURFING Race Coach Level 2 course is taking place at Queen Mary SC on Saturday 11 – Sunday 12 May 2024. This course is open to all RYA members. The aim of the course is to provide candidates with techniques to safely coach racing to youth and adult sailors. Book here.

And finally….

I am sad to announce that our lovely Leon Ward, Regional Developer, has left the RYA South team. I would like to thank Leon for all his hard work, over the many years we have worked together. I know that he has worked with so many clubs in the region and will be missed. I wish him all the best.
