The RYA’s Connected Conference season has kicked off, with almost 100 delegates from clubs, classes and other affiliated organisations, including Sailability venues, attending the first event in Taunton in late October.
The Conferences are the premier in-person events in the wider 2024-25 Connected affiliate development series, harnessing the power of the RYA network to share knowledge, learn from each other and help to grow the sport and club, class and affiliate offerings.
By bringing together experts, key resources and networking opportunities, the Connected Conferences provide unique insights that can help organisations stay up-to-date, innovative and well-equipped to grow their communities.
Here are five reasons why attending a Connected Conference should be on the agenda for every RYA affiliate.
The events offer a unique platform for networking, where club, class and centre representatives can connect with peers in other organisations facing similar challenges and opportunities. The Conference environments encourage the exchange of ideas, success stories and problem-solving, creating a sense of community and support.
By networking with other clubs and centres, attendees can discover innovative solutions to common issues, such as volunteer recruitment, facility management, member retention and broadening access to the sport. This can lead to collaborations or simply fresh perspectives that enrich club operations.
RYA Connected Conferences this year are focused around insights and trends in safety, inclusivity and operational best practice.
From developments in training opportunities, to youth engagement, creating thriving competition, accessing funding streams and much more besides, the Conferences’ packed programmes ensure clubs and centres remain on the front foot in being safe, welcoming environments in the heart of their communities.
The RYA Connected Conferences provide in-person access to a wealth of expert knowledge. Talks and workshops are led by RYA staff, volunteers and peers across the affiliate community, covering various topics such as best practices in club management, effective training techniques, and strategies to engage and retain members. The sessions provide insight and tangible actions that clubs can apply to their own operations and engagement initiatives.
Additionally, delegates gain access to RYA resources, toolkits and case studies, which can be invaluable for clubs looking to grow and innovate.
The Conferences allow clubs, classes and centres to reflect on their current practices and find ways to enhance or evolve their offerings. Sessions across the events include discussions on improving the member experience, developing thriving competition and events. Clubs leave with a toolkit of ideas that can be used to attract new members and keep current members engaged.
RYA Connected Conferences take place in venues all across the UK – and you don’t have to stick to your ‘home’ region. Just choose the event most convenient to you and get booked on.
They are completely free to attend, and there are no limits to the number of delegates an affiliate can bring – so gather a group, divide and conquer to make the most of the all the workshops and information sessions, ready to share back with your club or organisation.
