Entries open for RYA Winter Match Racing Series

Entry is now open for the RYA Winter Match Racing Series which kicks off in RS21s at London’s Queen Mary Sailing Club in the New Year.

The #rockupandrace series will visit four venues across the country with teams also having the chance to race 707s and Elliott 6M keelboats. Each event will offer windward-leeward match racing for up to eight or nine teams.

Entries are invited for teams of three/four crew and there will be a warm welcome at each event for both experienced young match racers and those who would like to give it a go, with coaching support available for all participants.

Details can be found in the Notice of Race and entry for the first three events in the series is now open here. There is an early bird discount available for teams entering Qualifier 1 before 23.59 on 3rd January 2022, and the full series will be as follows:

15-16 January 2022 - Winter Match Racing 1, RS21s at Queen Mary SC
12-13 March 2022 - Winter Match Racing 2, 707s at Royal Corinthian YC, Burnham-on-Crouch
19-20 March 2022 - Winter Match Racing 3, RS21s at Ullswater YC
26-27 March 2022 - Women's Winter Match Racing, Elliott 6ms, venue to be confirmed.

A perfect opportunity for those new to the sport to enjoy coached match racing, it’s open to all and especially aimed at young match racers and university sailors.”

RYA Match Racing provides an accessible platform for young keelboat sailors and dinghy racers wanting to transition to keelboats or try something different, as taking part is easy with a fleet of one-design keelboats ready and waiting at each venue.
