RYA eBook Subscriptions for Training Schemes

These affordable packages provide access to all relevant material for the different RYA training schemes. RYA instructors can receive access to additional value-added material for any training scheme subscription purchased if they hold the relevant credentials.

We also offer access to the RYA Recognition Guidance Notes for instructors.

Not All eBooks

We've carefully constructed meaningful subscription packages at an affordable price, rather than offering a single "all eBook" subscription. This would be too expensive and would also include content that customers wouldn't use.

Please email publications@rya.org.uk with any feedback or suggestions.

New Content and Updates

We'll add any relevant new eBooks to your subscription package as they become available. While your subscription is active, these will show as "Available" within the My eBooks > Owned section of the RYA Books app, and within their respective categories.

If we replace an eBook, you won't be able to download the old version. However, your download will remain in My eBooks > Downloaded within your subscription period.

If we update an eBook, you'll see "Update Available" rather than "Downloaded". Simply tap or click to update.

Subscription Only Content

Depending on your credentials, instructors may be eligible for additional free content, such as relevant syllabus and logbooks and course pack books. This additional content is added to your subscription when your credentials are verified as part of the purchasing process.

Answer booklets for shorebased course packs are not included in the instructor-only subscription content. These are restricted items that can only be bought by RYA Recognised Training Centres (RTCs) with the appropriate recognition. The instructor-only subscription content is designed as a convenience in order to help instructors put course material together. Answer booklets are not required in order to put course materials together. It is the responsibility of an RTC to provide an instructor pack to the instructors they use to deliver courses.

As access to instructor-only content is dependent on your individual credentials, please ensure that you use your personal email address when you order, rather than a generic (info@) email address.

If you'd like to purchase a subscription for your school or RYA Recognised Training Centre, or use a generic email address, please be aware that you won't be eligible for instructor-only content.

How to Order

Try a Taster First

Download a free "Taster" before you purchase an eBook subscription. This ensures that your device is compatible and that you're happy with the content before you commit to buy. Navigate to the free "Tasters" section of the RYA Books app.

When you're ready to purchase your subscription, you can do so through our online shop.

Your eBooks will be available for you to download using the RYA Books app. Find out more about How to: Download RYA eBooks.

Note: Your subscription will be registered to the email address you use to purchase it. An RYA Books account will be created for you, if you don't have one already.

We aim to process instructor-only content within two working days from purchase. You will be notified that it's been added to your account by email. Please contact the eBook team at ebooks@rya.org.uk if you haven't heard from us within two working days.

The End of Your Subscription Period

Your annual subscription period will last for 12 months from the date of purchase. You will be sent an email reminder three days before the end of your subscription. After your subscription expires, you'll lose access to subscription content. You'll retain access to any standalone eBooks purchased separately.

Renewing Your Subscription

You can renew your subscription by purchasing a subscription through our online shop.

Privacy & Personal Information

In order to fulfil our contract with you and provide access to either restricted or paid content, we need to collect and store the information listed below from you. Your information will be stored and used in accordance with the RYA privacy policy, which can be found here.

By tapping the @ button on the RYA Books app home screen, you are able to update your email preferences, access additional material from the RYA, or unsubscribe if you wish to do so.

RYA Recognition Guidance Notes

You can access the RYA Recognition Guidance Notes on the RYA Books app if you have purchased an eBook Subscription and have qualified for the additional instructor-only content. Please navigate to the ‘Instructors’ tab within the RYA Books app, or click here to access them via your web browser using Online Access. Please enter your RYA Books account username and credentials when prompted.

Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) Standards Subscriptions

In addition to our training schemes eBook subscriptions, we now offer 1-month or 12-month subscriptions to harmonised standards for the Recreational Craft Directive (RCD II 2013/53/EU).

Our 1-month subscription provides you with access to standards through the RYA Books app, while a 12-month subscription provides you with access through the app and the ability to download a PDF copy.
