OnBoard news round up – October 2021

Booking now open for the 2021 RYA Affiliated Club Conferences

This year's National Conference will be a virtual evening, and regional events will see the return of in-person events across the country.

Following the success of last year’s streamed conference, this new-style hybrid approach will provide national RYA updates online, Monday 8th November from 7.30pm-9.30pm, followed by regional events where clubs can meet and reconnect over the winter.

The theme of this year’s conference will be Planning Ahead for a Successful Future. All the events are free for delegates from RYA Affiliated clubs and registration is now open.

Double Olympic gold medallist and broadcaster Shirley Robertson will again host the national event and keynote speakers so far include RYA Director of Racing, Ian Walker and RYA Director of Sport Development, Rob Clark, with more special guests to be announced.

RYA Region and Home Country events over the winter will then provide an opportunity for clubs and their representatives to meet up in person at venues where they will be able to take part in workshops and tap into local RYA expertise.

The newly released G14 Handbook and Beginner Session cards

Any eagle-eyed spotters out there, may have noticed that the OnBoard Beginner sailing session cards 1-5 refer to specific sessions in the G14 Instructor Handbook. Unfortunately, these no longer match up in the latest edition of the Handbook. We are aware of this, and with most Instructors still using the old Handbook this should not cause to many problems. When the new session cards will be re-printed with the correct information.
