U25 Development

The RYA is fully behind championship and the goal to increase participation and inclusivity, We have already run two development camps for under 25 para sailors who want to develop their sailing performance as part of a group of young disabled people. Read on for more opportunities

 

RS Venture Connect World Championship

The RYA will be selecting and funding 1 team of u25 sailors to represent GBR at this event from the 23rd - 27th November, 2022 in Oman.

 

The funding will cover:

  • entry fee
  • coach support
  • travel and accommodation

Other GBR teams may choose to enter and can benefit from the coach support on offer.

 

2018 Para Sailing World Championship, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, USA. Over 90 competitors from 39 nations in three classes — Hansa 303, 2.4m OD, and RS Venture — competing from 18 September to 22 September 2018. The host, Sail Sheboygan & SEAS, is located on the water of Lake Michigan, the fourth largest fresh water lake in the world.

 

Dates: 23rd-27th November

Venue:  Barcelo Resort, Mussanah, Sultanate of Oman 

Selection:  by a committee, following the process described in this policy

 

To be eligible you must  

To submit an application send an email to Joff.mcgill@rya.org.uk by 9am on the 5th September covering:

  1. Your sailing background/previous achievements.
  2. Why you think you should represent GBR at the event
  3. Your sailing ambitions
  4. Confirming you have read the current para classification rules and believe that minimal disability criteria will be met

The RYA is committed to growing Para Sailing, and are looking forward to developing and selecting a team for the event. We want to grow the number of young people sailing  so will look to develop young people and map out  a range of opportunities for them beyond the championship. We will continue to support World Sailing as they seek to develop a long term sustainable structure for para sailing.
