RYA Training Chart Plotter
Day Skipper and Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore Shorebased Courses
The Training Chart Plotter no longer forms part of these courses from 31 December 2019. From that date it will no longer be possible to install or activate the plotter.
If you are partway through a course at the moment, the plotter can still be installed until the end of December. However, technical support will no longer be available from 24 December 2019.
If you are about to start your course, please contact your training centre to receive the new material relating to electronic navigation rather than installing the plotter.
Essential Navigation and Seamanship Course
The Training Chart Plotter does not form part of this course and was used for additional/optional information only. No replacement materials are required for this course.

Overlays
Once you have watched the tutorial on using overlays, you will be ready to import the overlays below. The first overlay below is a demonstration which you can use to get used to the process, followed by two overlays for the Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster course.
How to import an overlay file into your RYA training chart plotter:
- Download and save the required file below. Remember where you have saved this folder and what you have called it.
- Open the RYA Training Chart Plotter and open the overlay window by going to the Show menu and clicking 'Overlays' (see help videos above).
- Right click on the Overlays folder where you want the file to be imported.
- Click 'Import here' and then navigate to the file you saved in step 1.
- Select the file and click open or import, depending on your system.
You should now see the imported folder within your plotter.
Within the demo overlay there is a demo route (labelled '1-Simple Demo Route around StrongHolme Island') and four sub-folders with pre-prepared chart work(labelled with sequential numbers).These match the 5 simulation files for the route monitor available to download below.
