Take part in our welfare surveys

Your voice matters

Sailing, boating and watersports activities provide fantastic experiences for children and young people on the water, activities that should be both safe and fun.

To learn more about the experiences of young people participating in on-the-water activities we have launched two surveys. One for children and young people and a second for parents, carers and guardians.

By participating in an RYA welfare survey, you will help us to gain a clearer understanding of the experiences and pressures felt by those in our community.

All feedback shared with us will help us to make improvements to the resources we provide to support on-the-water activities. Once the results have been analysed, we will provide an update on the findings.

Both surveys will be open until 23:59 on Sunday 28 April 2024 and should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete.

Children and young people welfare survey

The children and young people welfare survey has been created to learn more about the well-being of the young people taking part in on-the-water activities.

The survey gives you the opportunity to tell us directly about your experiences, both positive and negative. Your feedback can help us to make improvements to make your time afloat even better!

The survey is open to all young people up to the age of 25-years-old. For those under the age of 18-years-old, a parent, carer, or guardian is recommended to support their child/children to complete the survey as independently as possible.

The survey is completely anonymous, which means that your answers cannot be traced back to you.

Parent, carer, and guardian survey

Are you a parent, carer or guardian that supports young people and want to share your views and experiences of welfare in sailing and watersports?

People gathered in a circle talking - Parent, gaurdian and carer survey.

Receiving feedback from parents, carers and guardians on safeguarding practices and lived experiences is extremely valuable. The insights gathered through the parent, carer, and guardian survey will help shape the RYA’s safeguarding work plans, programmes, policies, and procedures.

Please note, if you are the parent, carer or guardian for more than one child you will be able to re-start the survey to complete it multiple times.
