What can you do?

Help us spread the word about sailing and get more women out on the water this summer

3 women sat in dinghy sailing. The boat is flat and they are all looking and smiling at the camera. There are yachts moored in the background.

As part of this year's Steering the Course festival the RYA is highlighting opportunities for women to get out on the water sailing.

Here are a few things you can do…

1. Friends and family

Invite friends and family that have sailed in the past and might want to give it another go to join you where you sail and give them a taster.

2. Non-sailing friends

Invite your non-sailing friends to become your crew. Make sure the conditions are good so they have the best first experience.

3. Kit and equipment

Offer out your kit and equipment to keep everyone safe and warm on the water. It's important to make it as easy as possible.

4. Spread the word

Spread the word about life on and off the water, the benefits go beyond just sailing with social events, opportunities for kids and other watersports.

Steering the Course is a campaign organised by World Sailing and supported by the RYA and other organisations around the world to introduce women and girls across the globe to the sport of sailing and promote further opportunities for those already involved.
