Winter Match Racing

New Winter Match Racing Championships aimed at Youth, Women's and University teams.

Open to all British teams.

The Winter Match Racing Programme is held at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy and TBC Scottish club- open to all British teams. It's both competition and training, with coaches and a full umpire team at every event.  Evening training sessions may be held after sailing or online.

For the Weymouth based events the entry fee is £310/£340 per team.  This year due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions we will not be offering accommodation at RYA Portland House with the entry fee, but it can be booked directly.

The entry fee is £300 per team for those entering more than 4 weeks in advance.  Late entries will be charged £350 per team.  For WMR4 in Scotland the fee is £350/£400.

Teams can consist of 3 or 4 sailors weighing no more than 260kgs in total. For the Scottish event team consisting of 4/5 sailors weighing no more than 350kgs.

Skippers must be members of the RYA.

All sailors shall be aged of 14 years old or older, on the first day of the event.  Any sailor under the age of 18 years old shall complete an online parent/guardian declaration form before the event.  Teams with sailors under the age of 18 are required to contact the OA ( to discuss guardianship/parental responsibility at the event.  Any additional costs shall be covered by the team, not the OA.

If you wish to attend but do not have a full team, complete the entry form and we will try and make up full teams. We would also recommend joining the RYA Match Racing Facebook page to search for crew/teams.
