RYA Instructor Training in Scotland

Instructors and coaches are crucial to the development of our sport. They provide many first time experiences as well as support throughout the learning journey for participants. Instructors provide safe and engaging sessions, allowing the participants to learn new skills and develop existing knowledge. Instructors inspire people to get involved in boating activity for recreation, competition or as a career.

Senior Instructor Training

Senior Instructors have an important role within RYA Training centres to oversee the management and safety of the centre. They help to maintain standards and support other instructors to run safe and effective sessions.

Pre-Course Support for Senior Instructors

To help prepare Dinghy Instructors to become Senior Instructors, we run at least 2 Senior Instructor prep days each year. The day will be a mixture of practical on the water sessions and also some classroom activities, focusing on making sessions fun and interactive and delivering feedback. These prep days will give you the opportunity to meet at least one of the coaches running the course, ask questions and get an idea of what the training will look like.

In addition to the practical prep day, we plan to run a series of online sessions with our training team. These are free to attend and cover a range of topics.
