Joint Services Adventurous Sailing Training Centre (JSASTC), Gosport, is recruiting for a Permanent and Full Time Fleet Maintenance Manager (FMM) to manage its marine workshop facility, skilled engineers and shipwrights, and on-site fleet maintenance programme. JSASTC provides offshore sailing training with a fleet of thirty 34ft to 72ft yachts in the UK and abroad. The FMM will manage the 34ft fleet and and inherits an established annual maintenance programme and a strong safety management system supported by excellent facilities and experienced maintenance staff. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the FMM will play a key part in centre management. The FMM is a Permanent C2 Civil Servant with significant leave, training and pension benefits. JSASTC is recruiting enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals on permanent and temporary contracts to provide RYA sailing training delivery at its Gosport operating base. Applications are welcomed from already qualified RYA Cruising Instructors, but CI training may also be provided for suitably experienced individuals with the minimum qualification of YM Offshore subject to on water assessment and a probation period. Permanent Sailing instructors are contracted to deliver up to 20 weeks on water training delivery (Mon to Fri) annually and pro rata for temporary contracts. As D grade Civil Servants, Permanent Sailing Instructors benefit from excellent training, pension and leave packages. Temporary staff on 7-month fixed term contracts will enjoy pro rata leave and training. In addition, JSASTC employs a few flexible temporary employed sailing staff. Non sailing working hours are 08-1630hrs Mon – Thu and 08-1300 Fri, when instructors are employed as classroom-based instructors or in yacht maintenance and management. Sailing hours are Mon to Fri with annual time Off in Lieu provided for completed sailing activity Essential: RYA YM Offshore, First Aid, Commercial endorsement up to date ML5 or ENG medical certificates, RYA First Aid and a commercial certificate. Desirable: Classroom, Diesel, FA, Radar or Sea Survival Instructor.

JSASTC is recruiting to fill Yacht Maintainers and Engine Labourer posts at its Gosport sailing base. No formal qualifications are required as all training is provided, although some previous employment is ideal, and an interest or some experience of working with marine engines and boats is preferred. These positions are ideal for someone starting in the marine industry and it can be linked to external training courses and provision. Full training is provided as part of work induction.
