Training Schemes Administrator

The Royal Yachting Association, based in Hamble, near Southampton, is the national governing body for all forms of recreational, competitive and professional boating.  It represents dinghy and yacht racing, motor and sail cruising, RIBs and sportsboats, windsurfing, inland cruising and personal watercraft. 


Job Role: Training Schemes Administrator


Salary: £24,000 pa


Hours: Full-time - 35 hours per week


Location: Hamble (with the potential for some hybrid working)


We are looking for a proactive and highly organised Training Schemes Administrator to join our Training Department. This role supports the RYA Chief Instructor and ensures the efficient administration of the RYA Dinghy, Wing and Windsurf schemes, assisting other administrators as required.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Acting as a primary point of contact for the public, students, instructors, and training centres.
  • Responding to general and technical enquiries about RYA training schemes.
  • Providing guidance to members of the public to choose appropriate training.
  • Organising and coordinating conferences and training events, including budgeting and attendance.
  • Administering RYA Trainer revalidation, selection, and courses.
  • Collating information on instructor courses and updating instructors/examiners on developments.
  • Representing RYA Training at national Boat Shows.
  • Providing administrative support on projects with external partners (e.g., Duke of Edinburgh, MAIB, MCA).
  • Handling complaints and investigating non-registration of certificates.
  • Processing medical referrals and maintaining accurate records.
  • Completing other tasks as may reasonably be required, including ad hoc support with Reception cover.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Accurate keyboard skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working in an administrative capacity.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of RYA Training Schemes and boating.
  • Experience organising conferences or events.
