British Sailing Youth Team 29er Coach

The British Youth Sailing Team seeks a knowledgeable and motivated 29er coach who can the support the development of youth sailors within a collaborative performance environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact on the development of our next generation of champions.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Strong Skiff racing experience, excellent knowledge and understanding of double handed skills.
  • A clear understanding of Skiff performance, including speed, starting and race decision-making.
  • A collaborative approach, working effectively with coaches, sailors, parents and RYA staff
  • An approachable coaching style that builds trust and encourages sailor ownership
  • The ability to lead, inspire and engage young athletes
  • Willing to travel to delivery weekend camps around the country.

Desirable:

  • Experience coaching at international regattas

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support the design and delivery of an aligned, evidence-based programme
  • Deliver high-quality coaching at camps and regattas, focusing on key performance areas
  • Work closely with the Head Coach and wider team to ensure a consistent, collaborative approach
  • Support sailors at competitions to help them perform at their best
  • Contribute to ongoing development through reviews, feedback and remote coaching
  • Communicate clearly with sailors, parents and staff to maintain alignment and clarity

The contract amounts to approximately 60 days from 01 September 2026 to 31 August 2027 with the possibility of renewal based on performance and programme needs.

Commitment to the whole programme is essential the confirmed dates are: - 3-4 Oct, 28-31 Oct, 28-29 Nov, 16-22 Dec, 17-20 Feb, 20-21 March, 10-11 April, 29 May-1 June, 19-20 June, 3-10 July, 17-18 July, 1-10 August.
