Quality Management Associate
The Royal Yachting Association, based in Hamble, near Southampton, is the national governing body for all forms of recreational, competitive and professional boating. It represents dinghy and yacht racing, motor and sail cruising, RIBs and sportsboats, windsurfing, inland cruising and personal watercraft.
Job Role: Quality Management Associate
Salary: £30,000 per annum
Hours: Full-time - 35 hours per week
Location: Hamble (office based)
Start Date: April 2026
Fixed-term contract for 14 months.
The Training Department is responsible for setting and monitoring standards for the RYA’s training schemes in sailing and powerboating both in the UK and abroad. RYA recognised training is delivered by RYA qualified instructors through our network of almost 2,500 recognised centres.
The RYA has a contractual requirement to implement a Quality Management System relating to the approval of RYA recognised Training Centres and Instructors.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Developing, testing and implementation of a new Quality Management System
- Working with Subject Matter Experts to obtain knowledge of processes
- Producing accurate documentation which records processes, in line with the Quality Management System framework
- Working in accordance with the QMS implementation project plan
- Updating the Training Services Co-ordinator and other stakeholders on progress, risks, and potential problems.
- Any other reasonable tasks relating to the development and implementation of the Quality Management System
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint restrictions and document control)
- Accurate keyboard skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy team environment
- Experience working under a QMS environment
- QMS Training to the standard of BS EN ISO 9001:2015 (desirable)
- Effectively able to manage confidential information
