Episode 2 - Beyond the boat
In episode two, Dee Caffari explores and swims before sailing towards the island of Vis. In an experience that can only be found by stepping beyond the boat, Dee heads inland to visit a local winery, learning all about the traditions and flavours that make the wine so special.
As she sails, Dee talks about navigating the Croatian coastline, where the next destination is always reassuringly in sight. She stops for a swim when a beautiful secluded bay catches her eye, enjoying the spontaneity that comes with cruising along Croatia’s many islands and inlets.
Finding a peaceful anchorage, Dee steps beyond the boat and heads inland to partake in a unique experience at a local winery based in an old World War Two bunker. Here, she finds out all about the storied traditions and grape varieties that lend the wine on Vis its special flavour.
Learning the ropes

Before taking a sailing holiday, we recommend taking the RYA Competent Crew Practical course and the RYA Day Skipper Theory and Practical Sailing courses.
To charter a yacht, you’ll need an adequate level of sailing experience and a qualification like RYA Day Skipper or ICC. Requirements vary at different destinations, and you should always check with your chosen charter company.
