High speed kite foil racing on the water coupled with family fun on land
Here’s what you can expect at the Formula Kite Europeans’ finals weekend (23-24 September) in Portsmouth.
Race timings
Saturday 23 September
Racing is scheduled to start from 12.00pm
Sunday 24 September
Not before 12.00pm - Final race for riders not qualified for the Medal Series
Not before 1.00pm - Medal Series
The medal ceremony will take place in the Event Village approximately one hour after the conclusion of racing.
All timings are subject to delays if wind conditions are unsuitable for racing.
In the Event Village
The Event Village site and concessions will be open in Portsmouth from 10.00am-7.00pm on Saturday 23 September, and from 10.00am-5.00pm on Sunday 24 September.
Watching the action
Our event host will be talking you through all the activities and keeping you updated and amused from 11.00am both days. There will be big screen on the beach to view the action on the water alongside live commentary and a chance to hear from the athletes.
Music
Our guest DJ will be keeping you entertained in between racing with sets throughout the weekend.
Food and drinks
You’re welcome to bring a picnic (no BBQs please!), but a selection of stalls will also be available to purchase food and soft drinks throughout the day. Water refill points will be available so remember your reusable water bottle.
For the over 18s, our Official Bar Partner Portsmouth Distillery will be on site with their Rum Shack, providing their excellent spirits and a small selection of beers and wines for purchase and consumption within our Beach Bar.
Southsea Deli will be in their usual spot serving coffee, breakfast, lunch and treats.
Kids’ Corner
There’s something to keep even our littlest fans amused with face painting, competitions and a colouring station!
Try wingsurfing
If you feel inspired to have a go at watersports then our friends at the Andrew Simpson Centre Portsmouth will be with us on the beach with wingsurfing kit and instructors to enable anyone aged eight years and over to have a go, free of charge!

Pop on the VR goggles and experience the thrill of foiling, dinghy sailing and windsurfing, as well as seeing how RYA SafeTrx takes the search out of search and rescue.

We can get you started! RYA experts will be on hand over the weekend to help answer your questions and find your nearest centre to get you out on the water.
