RYA Junior Club Championships Grand Final

Celebrating the energy, skill and spirit of junior club racing across the UK

The first-ever RYA Junior Club Championships is here. A brand-new national event designed to celebrate the energy, talent and team spirit of junior club sailors across the UK.

Taking place 19-20 September at Northampton Sailing Club, the Grand Final will bring together the top junior teams from every RYA region and Home Country for a fun, competitive and highly sociable weekend of racing.

About the Championships

The Junior Club Championships is a team-based competition that gives clubs the chance to showcase their emerging junior talent while encouraging participation, teamwork and club pride.

It’s all about:

  • Team spirit
  • Club representation
  • Exciting, friendly racing

How the Grand Final works

Each qualifying club is invited to enter a team of six sailors, made up of:

  • Two single-handed sailors (Toppers – 5.3 rig)
  • Two double-handed crews (RS Fevas – XL rig)

Teams must also include at least two boys and two girls.

Sailors compete individually, with all results combined to produce an overall team score. The highest-scoring club will be crowned RYA Junior Club Champions 2026.

Boats

Competing clubs are asked to provide:

  • One Topper (5.3)
  • One RS Feva (XL)

If a club needs support sourcing boats, the RYA may be able to help by connecting clubs for charter opportunities.

How to qualify

A total of 20 club teams will reach the Grand Final.

Qualification is through regional interclub events held throughout the 2026 season.

The top two clubs from each area will qualify:

RYA Regions:

  • North West
  • North East
  • Midlands
  • East
  • London & South East
  • South
  • South West

Home Countries:

  • Northern Ireland
  • Scotland
  • Wales

Sailors only need to attend one qualifying event to earn points for their club but entering more events gives clubs the chance to climb higher in the rankings.
