The 4-day course will cover the role of a Senior Instructor, preparation and delivery of sessions, course and centre management, powerboat handling in a teaching environment and the RYA Sailing Schemes. You will be assessed on a continual basis including running water-based simulated group management sessions.

Candidates must first be an RYA Dinghy Instructor and must fulfil the following criteria prior to the course:

• Minimum age of 18
• Valid First Aid certificate
• RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate
• Dinghy Instructor certificate, with at least two years intermittent or one year's full time instructing experience since qualifying
• Safety boat certificate
• RYA Safe and Fun safeguarding certificate
• Recommendation from the RYA Chief Instructor, or principal, RYA Regional Manager/Regional Trainer, or RYA appointed Trainer.
• Completed Senior Instructor workbook
• Sailing ability to at least RYA pre-entry standard
