Our partners
We partner with other non-profit organisations and key businesses to help raise awareness of environmental issues and the good practice the recreational boating sector can adopt
LIFE Recreation ReMEDIES Project
The Green Blue and Royal Yachting Association has partnered with Natural England along with the Marine Conservation Society, Ocean Conservation Trust, Plymouth City Council and the Tamar Estuaries Consultative Forum, as part of a four-year EU LIFE funded project known as the LIFE Recreation ReMEDIES Project. The project is aiming to restore and protect important seabed habitats such as seagrass. As part of this project The Green Blue is helping to raise awareness of the importance of seabed habitats such as seagrass amongst the recreational boating community, encouraging sustainable anchoring & mooring to help minimise any impacts these activities can have on marine habitats.
British Universities Sailing Association
The British Universities Sailing Association (BUSA) is the governing body for university sailing in the U.K. It is affiliated to, and supported by, the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and is recognised by, and works with, British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) to deliver BUCS sailing championships. BUSA supports The Green Blue’s annual University Sailing Sustainability Challenge, that sees University Sailing Clubs undertaking actions to make their club and sailing venues more environmentally sustainable competing to finish in the top three and win prizes for their clubs.
Sea-Changers
We have partnered with Sea-Changers, a UK marine conservation charity managed by a small team of volunteers. They have several grants programmes including their main grants programme and the Coastal Fountain Fund. The main grants programme provides grants of up to £2500 for marine conservation projects within the UK.
RS Aero Class Association
RS Aero UK Class Association was the first-class association to develop a sustainability charter in partnership with The Green Blue. As part of this charter the class is committed to minimising the impact of its activities on the environment. This includes areas such as recycling of products, minimising the use of single use plastics, encouraging lift sharing and ensuring event participants undertake the Check Clean Dry approach to removing harmful invasive species from their boats and equipment. The class is also keen to help the clubs they visit to reduce their environmental footprint by identifying opportunities for The Green Blue to support them in becoming more sustainable.
